Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I’m excited to share with you the United in Hope project for Far North Queensland.

This project is focused on calling and equipping ministry workers for Far North Queensland, so the Gospel can continue to be lived and shared in communities throughout the region.

Ministry in the Far North, from Cairns and Atherton to Hope Vale, Wujal Wujal, and Coen, is challenging. The distances are great, resources are few, and it can be hard to keep a steady pastoral presence. Still, these communities have strong faith and a commitment to share Christ’s love with all.

For more than a century, Lutheran communities in Queensland have shared this calling with the people of Far North Queensland. We have walked together, shared burdens, and supported each other so that no community is left alone.

United in Hope is about carrying on that shared responsibility.

When we invest in people, pastors and other ministry workers, we strengthen local leadership and help build what’s needed for a faithful, lasting mission. This isn’t just about keeping the lights on; it’s about making sure ministry is present, supported, and able to grow in the years ahead.

At the 2025 Convention of District Synod in Cairns, we agreed to raise $60,000 a year for three years to support this important ministry. We invite congregations, our district entities, families, and individuals to partner together with the people of the north, both through prayer and practical support.

When we give together, we show that the Gospel matters everywhere and that we are truly one Church with one purpose but many ministries.

Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your partnership as we continue to bring Christ’s love to life in Far North Queensland.

Your fellow servant,
