The Power of Generosity

We believe in the power of generosity, what it does for the individual doing the giving, and for the purpose that the giving supports. Thank you for your interest in supporting the work and mission of Ipswich Lutheran Church!

Giving at Ipswich Lutheran Church

Giving is an integral part of our relationship with God. It acknowledges Him as the giver of everything we have; it reflects our trust that He will continue to provide for us; it allows us to be a part of His work here on earth, and it’s a way for us to follow through on what He’s asked us to do. God tells us: “Honour God with everything you own; give him the first and the best.” (Proverbs 3:9)

Here are a list of ways you can give to Ipswich Lutheran Church:

CASH OR CHEQUE

Cheques (made payable to Ipswich Lutheran Church) or cash can be given at any weekend worship service by simply placing it in the offering place, or send cheques via mail to Ipswich Lutheran Church, 32 Roderick St QLD 4305.

Leave a Legacy or Bequest

Some people feel that they are unable to give as much as they might like at times. By specifying a bequest or legacy to the Ipswich Lutheran Church in your Will allows you to go on giving even after your death. To find out more about Legacy or Bequest giving, click here.

What Is Tithing?

The word “tithe” literally means a tenth, or 10%. A tithe is the first 10% of your income after tax. An offering is anything you give above and beyond that 10%.

We believe in tithing because the Bible says: “The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.” (Deuteronomy 14:23) Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life.

God says: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “And see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (Malachi 3:10) This is the only place in Scripture where God tells us to put him to the test. In other words he’s saying “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me!”

But let’s be honest. Most of us work too hard for too little. So for many, this idea of tithing, bringing the first 10% of our income to the Church seems overwhelming. But it doesn’t matter how much or how little we make, God promises to pour out blessings on us when we tithe.
